The Cuban Swimmer

The Cuban Swimmer by Milcha Sanchez-Scott is full of surreal moments in this scene which seems to be lengthened into a play. Margarita just seems to be an attractor of obscure events, which are to me very imaginative. This play makes me exhausted just thinking about swimming for such an extensive amount of time. This play is full of cultural archetypes, which give this play a unique atmosphere. The disasters that margarita faces gives the play an accomplishment.

"Rites of Passage"

In this brief piece by Sharon Olds, she gives a detailed log of her son's birthday party, illustrating the 6-7 years old boys as grown men. Later in the poem, she begins to speak of her son in a way which he would find embarrassing. Near the end, she alludes and draws similarities between the boy's and Military Generals. Instantly, after finishing this poem, i felt assurance that it had to be a mockery of the immaturity of the military general's mentality. But then i went back an re-read it, and the second time through i felt that maybe this is just an allusion that i ran too far with.  

LONELY HEARTS

in this poem by wendy cope, it seems to be almost satirical. It has a very mocking presence to me. I feel like it has a sense of bitterness in it or maybe a condescending attitude. As if, she feels that people are so pathetic with their search for love. That people go searching and even degrade themselves by going to the extent of soliciting themselves in a newspaper advertisement. I can definitely relate. I think people especially kids our age are so brainwashed by the media and by hormones that they degrade themselves and forfeit their independency by going and looking for gratification in someone else. Its a waste of time. Love will slap you in the face when it has arrived. Love is a very obvious thing. In youth, you should enjoy life and let love find you. 

"LIVING IN SIN"

In "Living in Sin" i think Adrienne Rich is portraying the mind of a woman who comes to the realization of how ignorant her fantasy of marriage was prior. So with this she cheats on her spouse? Pretty obvious sexual tension i presume, with the coffee pot imagery. overflowing and hot. She is tired of being a house wife and wants excitement.
